SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a carboxylate of a lanthanide metal of the formula Ln(RCOO)3 (Ln is a lanthanide metal element having an atomic number from 57 to 71; R is a 1-19C hydrocarbon group) comprises compounding (A) a lanthanide metal (Ln) compound selected from an oxide or a carbonate of the lanthanide metal (Ln), (B) a 2-20C carboxylic acid, (C) water, and (D) an inert solvent so that the molar ratio of the water (C) to the lanthanide metal (Ln) may be larger than 5:1, and reacting them within the temperature range of 0-300 deg.C. |
