Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate revolving motion of a gripping means to grip a tool in an orthogonal coordinate matrix type tool magazine. SOLUTION: Movement in a second direction orthogonal with a first direction of a gripping means 40 at a position out of an end part in a first direction of a tool storage member 15 and movement in the first direction of the gripping means 40 between the two adjacent tool storage members 15 out of a plural number of the tool storage members 15 in the second direction are selectively performed in a state where the gripping means 40 grips a tool 80. Movement of the gripping means 40 in the first direction and movement in the second direction crossing at least one back surface of a plural number of the tool storage members 15 are simultaneously performed in a state where the gripping means 40 does not grip the tool 80.
