PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope which can integrate the frequency of use with a simple structure, for example, only when it is used in the endoscope diagnosis. SOLUTION: The endoscope 2 is connectable with image processors 3A and 3B and a washer 3C as a plurality of peripheral devices. A command of a data demand for discriminating a peripheral device connected is sent to the peripheral device by a communication function 2a within the endoscope 2 at the connection thereof to judge whether the connected peripheral device is the one used for the diagnosis with the endoscope or the one used in other cases by a device discriminating function 2b based on a data or the like for the discrimination of the device to be returned from the peripheral device. Based on the results of the discrimination, only when the peripheral device to be used for the diagnosis with the endoscope is connected, the frequency of use is accumulated by 1 to a memory part 2c provided in the endoscope 2.
