Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a device compact as a whole and improve the exhaust gas clarifying efficiency and the exhaust gas heat recovering efficiency in the device for clarifying the exhaust gas of an engine and recovering the exhaust gas heat. SOLUTION: A cylindrical catalyst CA is mounted just under a cylinder head 1 of an engine E, a heat exchanger H is mounted outside the catalyst CA in concentric circle shape therewith, the exhaust gas is clarified by the catalyst CA, the heat exchange is executed between the exhaust gas and the cooling water of the engine E by the heat exchanger H, and the exhaust gas heat is recovered through the cooling water.
