Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for imaging a plate wherein such defects that need expensive and frequent maintenances which have been seen in conventional laser imaging units are eliminated. SOLUTION: An apparatus for imaging a plate 4 is provided with an imaging head 6, an electric source 14 for high frequency A. C. electric voltage and a number of electronic switches 12 and the imaging head 6 contains a number of electrically conductive electrode pins 10 being mutually parallel. These electrode pins 10 are separated with each other with insulating materials 8 and the electronic switches 12 are respectively connected with one electrode pin 10 on one end part and are connected with an electric source 14 on another end part. Then, by loading a high frequency electric field in cope with image data between these electrode pins 10 and the plate 4, polar molecules in a polar material on the surface of the plate are destroyed to prepare an image.
