PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to mount a plug connection type memory module, to improve performance after manufacturing a product and purchasing it, to reduce the processing scale of cache and to reduce its cost. SOLUTION: In a printer, a default ROM 16 stores an executable code. A microprocessor 22 connected to the ROM 16 carries out the executable code. Also, a print engine 14 connected to the microprocessor 22 prints an image in response to the execution of the executable code. Further, a plug connection type expansion memory unit 34 is mounted on a memory receptacle in an attachable and detachable way. Also, a memory controller 30 selectively writes the executable code in the unit 34 mounted on the memory receptacle.
