Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic hardness measuring device having accelerated measurement speed for measuring the hardness of a plurality of measuring points. SOLUTION: A driving mechanism control part 20 controls a table transferring mechanism 12, which moves a measuring point of a test piece to a recess forming position or to an image reading position, and an indenter driving mechanism 11 which pushes a indenter 11a into the measuring point disposed on the recess forming position to form a recess. The hardness of the measuring point of the test piece is calculated by a hardness measurement part 30, provided separately from the driving mechanism control part 20. An image reader disposed on the image reading position forms image data X of the recess. The hardness measurement part 30 calculates the hardness of the measuring point corresponding to the image data X of the recess by processing the image data X of the recess fetched in SRAM 33, concurrently with the work of disposing the measuring point to the image reading position by the driving mechanism control part 20. Thereby, a hardness measurement time can be shortened by a required time for moving the measuring point to the image reading position or for calculating the Vickers hardness.
