Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive secondary battery for improving the degradation of a cycle characteristic and a preserving characteristic by overdischarge without reducing capacity by electrically contacting metallic Li with a negative electrode containing a sub-negative electrode material capable of storing/ releasing Li other than a carbon material. SOLUTION: Desirably, Li releasing electric potential of a sub-negative electrode material is nobler than a carbon material, metallic Li is electrochemically stored in the sub-negative electrode material by dissolution or diffusion, and the adding ratio of the sub-negative electrode material is 1 wt.% to 50 wt.% to the total quantity of a graphitic carbon material and the sub-negative electrode material. Desirably, the sub-negative electrode material is metal or metallic oxide containing at least one kind of element selected from Si, Ge, Sn, Pb, Ti, V, Fe, Nb, Mo, W and Bi, a manufactured battery is preserved for a period of 0.5 day to 20 days under a condition where open circuit voltage is 2.5 V to 3.8 V at a temperature of 30 to 70 deg.C, and is then charged to 4 V or more.
