DATA RETRIEVING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the access time to a CD-ROM disk. SOLUTION: Information such as the data names of data to be retrieved in work stations 4a to 4c, disk names storing the data indicated by the data names and storing addresses for storing the data is stored in a retrieving information storing data base 2a as retrieving information for every data. Much data to be retrieved are stored in a CD-ROM device 3 in a state divided into plural CD-ROM disks. A retrieval controller 1a sorts the storing addresses included in the retrieving information acquired from the data base 2 in each storing disk based on retrieving conditions transmitted from the work stations 4a to 4c and generates retrieval information for simultaneously executing retrieval in the CD-ROM device 3 based on retrieving requests from plural work stations 4a to 4c, retrieves the generated retrieving information from the CD- ROM device 3 and transmits the acquired retrieving data to the work stations 4a to 4c.
