SOLUTION: A nonaqueous secondary battery is constituted with a positive electrode having a positive active material of a transition metal oxide, capable of inserting/releasing lithium, a negative electrode having a negative electrode material, and a nonaqueous electrolyte, the negative electrode material is a solid of a compound containing a silicon atom capable of inserting/releasing lithium, and the solid has a plurality of materials covering it.
