PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more reliably automatically load a paper sheet even if a paper sheet carrying passage is long in an image forming device for printing a continuous paper sheet by an electrophotographic method. SOLUTION: A paper sheet carrying device 2 has a paper sheet driving mechanism being arranged on the upstream side of photosensitive drums 9, 10 in a paper sheet carrying passage, imparting downstream directional reciprocal feeding motion to a paper sheet 3 and being controlled in driving by the control part, a scuff roller 18 being arranged on the downstream side of the photosensitive drums 9, 10 in the paper sheet carrying passage and imparting feeding directional tensile force to the paper sheet 3 and paper sheet detecting means being arranged in a plurality along the paper sheet carrying passage and offering information on the existence of the paper sheet 3 to the control part so that the control part controls the paper sheet driving mechanism to perform at least one time or more retrials when failing in a first time trial when trying automatic loading for enabling the forefront part of the paper sheet 3 to reach the scuff roller 18 by normally driving the paper sheet driving mechanism in which the forefront part of the paper sheet 3 is set.
