Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering phenols, reduced in phenols lost by being distributed into water layer in a step for separating and recovering phenols from an aqueous solution of an alkali containing sodium phenolate. SOLUTION: In this method for separating and recovering phenols from an aqueous solution of an alkali containing sodium phenolate, a mixed solution obtained by adding cumene and/or α-methylstyrene to an aqueous solution of an alkali is added to an alkali solution of alkali is neutralized with a mineral acid or the aqueous solution is previously neutralized with a mineral acid and then, cumene and/or α-ethylstyrene is added thereto.
