ESTRATTI DI ORIGINE ALGALE CON ATTIVITA' ANTIVIRALE, IN PARTICOLARE NEI CONFRONTI DI RETROVIRUS, E FARMACI CHE LI CONTENGONO

The extracts according to the present invention are characterized in that they are obtained by subjecting the alga Rissoella verrucolosa, fragmented if necessary, essentially to the following operations: - elimination of any epiphytic species; - if necessary, washing with sterile liquid and subsequent removal of the washing liquid; - extraction of substances and/or compositions contained in the alga with a solvent selected from the group comprising substances with at least one alcohol group, water, acetone, ethyl ether, hydrocarbons - aliphatic alicyclic, or mono or polynuclear aromatic-aliphatic optionally substituted with at least one halogen and/or optionally containing at least one hetero atom, and combinations thereof; - concentration of the extract obtained; and - treatment for preservation purposes. The extracts according to the invention exhibit antiviral activity, in particular against retroviruses such as for example those responsible for AIDS: HIV-1 and HIV-2.
