The copying pantograph, aimed at permitting faster, easier and more precise positioning of the piece to work, comprising a piercing tool 23 mounted on a trolley 22 movable along the three Cartesian axes and a feeler 24 integral with the tool, is fitted with a piercing template 30 or hole gauge on which the holes, or groups of holes 31 to be reproduced in the workpiece 12 are arranged in such a way that each hole, or one hole in each group of holes, has one axis which, in a predetermined point, is tangential to a reference circumference C1, C2, said predetermined point coinciding with one point of the axis of the feeler 24 at the beginning of each piercing operation; its application is in machining metal sheets or sections, or plastic materials for window frames.
