DISPOSITIVO PER LA CONVERSIONE DI PACCHETTI INFORMATIVI IN UNA RETE A LARGA BANDA DI TIPO ATM

The invention concerns a device for the conversion of data blocks or information packets frame structured into ATM cells and vice versa. The device is suitable for the integration in the VLSI technology. The device includes: frame handler transmission means (TXFH) able to receive framed data and to cause their transfer into a buffer unit (AAL*_BUFFER); protocol handler transmission means (TXPH) able to withdraw the data contained in said buffer unit (AAL*_BUFFER) and to cause its segmentation as well as to carry out predetermined protocol operations; protocol handler reception means (RXPH) able to receive segment type data and to cause their transfer into said buffer unit (AAL*_BUFFER); frame handler reception means (RXFH) able to withdraw the data contained in said buffer unit and to send framed data to the upper frame layers.
