Zusammenfassung:	According to a method for mechanically applying dust jackets around books, in which the dust jacket is applied around the book cover rotated away from the book (i.e. without cover) and the projecting side parts of the dust jacket are folded around the longitudinal edges of the cover, the inner surfaces of the projecting side parts of the dust jacket are provided with a self-adhesive which does not leave any traces of glue on the book cover, and the book is then closed.
