Zusammenfassung:A process is described for the preparation of free extracellular K5 polysaccharide from culture of strains of Escherichia coli which possess this polysaccharide which comprises: a) the submerged culturing of a strain of E. coli; b) precipitation of the culture filtrate with ethanol; c) treatment of the separated precipitate, dissolved in a suitable saline buffer, with protease; d) one or more dialysis stages followed by reprecipitation with ethanol.
