Acceleration of a portable device (2) is measured along a device axle, and an inclination angle of the device axle with respect to the axle of the vehicle is determined based on comparison between the measured acceleration of the vehicle and the determined acceleration of the device. Speed of the vehicle on the travel path is determined, and the travel path is determined by a global positioning system.
