Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to an undivided bearing housing for holding a horizontal or vertical shaft of an engine or machine, the shaft being supported in a radial bearing consisting of two sliding-bearing half-shells and, if required, a thrust bearing within the bearing housing. The object of providing a bearing housing of high rigidity which nevertheless permits easy installation of the bearing shells is achieved by the invention by an installation opening, provided at the level of the radial bearing, for the sliding-bearing half-shells, this opening being closable in a pressure-tight manner by an insert that can be connected firmly to the bearing housing, the radial bearing being braced by means of the insert, which accommodates the sliding-bearing half-shell facing it.
