Zusammenfassung:The vertical hydraulic ram is joined to the hoist by rope etc., led out from the cylinder through a gland arrangement. The gland comprises tandem chambers (10,11), with seals (12,13,14) between them. The chamber (10) adjoining the cylinder space (4) is filled with a fluid of greater supply (16) which pressurises the chamber higher than the working medium pressure. The other chamber (11) is connected to a separator trap (18) which parts the medium from the viscous fluid and has associated fluid and medium outlets linking to the first gland chamber and cylinder space respectively.
