Zusammenfassung:	Prodn. of nutrient media for culture of microorganisms or cells of macroorganisms is effected by (a) copolymerising acrylamide (I) and N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide (II) in a (I):(II) wt. ratio of (15-20):(0.019-0.132) in a physiological soln. (III) in the presence of a radical initiator; (b) washing the resulting gel with (III); and (c) either (i) swelling the gel in (III) until its wt. increases by a factor of 2.8-4.5, and then treating the gel with a liq. nutrient medium, or (ii) swelling the gel in a liq. nutrient medium until its wt. increases by a factor of 2.5-3.5.
