Zusammenfassung:	The surgical instrument, for closing the edges of a wound with a row of clips, has a lower jaw (1) and an upper jaw (2). The upper jaw has a longitudinal groove (3) to receive the punch (4) which pushes out the clips (5). In addition the upper jaw has a mechanism to drive the punch along the groove (3). The lower jaw has a recess (17) to bend the clips. The upper jaw incorporates a device for cutting the tissue with a laser beam and can be removed and replaced. The lower jaw has a hinged frame to grip the tissue which is being joined together by the clips.
