In an arrangement of cams in knitting feeds of circular knitting machines, butts (K2) of needles in the clearing position and butts (K1) of needles in the tuck position approach a stitch cam (3). Before reaching the stitch cam (3), the butts (K2) engage a guide cam (4) so that the corresponding needles are retracted into an intermediate position, and the butts (K1) engage a radially displaceable raising cam (5) so that the corresponding needles are raised into the intermediate position. Thus, the butts (K1) and (K2) are at the same height when they engage the stitch cam (3). This improves the knitting of elastic threads with normal threads.
