A device for separating and taking off of one or more notched stamped sheets from a plane of separation of a stack of sheets comprises: a magazine for receiving said stack; a tool comprising a first tool part and a second tool part which are movable relative to one another, the first tool part comprising a surface which engages the stack so as to cause a sheet to slide on another sheet in the plane of separation of the stack, the sliding movement of these sheets being of a limited distance such that they do not come into engagement in the region of their notches; one of said first and second tool parts comprising a further surface, this surface being for engaging and applying pressure against at least one location of the sheets which is exposed during the relative sliding movement between the sliding sheets, so that the sliding sheets are separated from one another in a direction normal to the plane of separation, and so that thereafter a relative transverse movement between the sliding sheets can take place without danger of catching.
