Method of controlling the power supply of a supercharged Otto (E) cycle engine by means of a turbocharger (TC) comprising a turbine (TB) arranged on an exhaust manifold (EM) of the engine and equipped with a wastegate valve (WG) arranged for bypassing the turbine, an intake manifold (IM) operatively connected with a compressor (C) of the turbocharger, a throttle valve (TV) disposed on the intake manifold for controlling an intake pressure downstream of the throttle valve, the method comprising a first procedure, when the turbocharger is judged operational, comprising: the complete opening of the throttle valve and the control of the intake pressure by means of an adjustment of the wastegate valve.
