A testing apparatus (1) for testing a vehicle steering box (2) provided with at least one drive end (21, 22) configured to operate a respective steering rod of a vehicle, comprises at least one stress unit (3) configured to generate and transmit a defined force (F) to a respective drive end (21, 22) of steering box (2); a support frame (4) configured to support the steering box (2) and the stress unit (3), which comprises a primary motor assembly (31; 131) including a first motor (10; 110) suitable to generate the defined force (F) and exerting said force on the respective drive end (21, 22); a support carriage (43) slidably connected to the support frame (4) and suitable to support the primary motor assembly (31; 131); and a secondary motor assembly (35; 135) suitable to move the support carriage (43) and the primary motor assembly (31; 131) along at least a first direction (A) in such a way as to modify at least the direction of defined force (F).
