The invention concerns an indoor unit for an intercom system, comprising: a handset comprising a magnetically active element, and a base comprising a switch for opening/closing a communication circuit, wherein the base defines a seat configured for housing the handset. In the indoor unit of the invention: the seat comprises a magnetically active element arranged at the magnetically active element of the handset when the handset is placed in the seat; the magnetically active element of the base is movable between two positions and is configured for opening/closing the switch; and the interaction between the magnetically active element of the base and the magnetically active element of the handset is suitable for constraining the handset in its seat. The invention further concerns an intercom system comprising such an indoor unit.
