A method for treating waste water containing biodegradable organic substances by feeding the liquid to be treated into a process reactor containing black soldier fly larvae to metabolize the organic substances contained in the liquid to be treated is described, characterized by the insertion into the process reactor of a volumetric support bed made of solid non-biodegradable material, designed to support the larvae by allowing them on the one hand to come into contact with the liquid to be treated and on the other to move based on their metabolic needs, plunging in the liquid to feed themselves and re-emerging to breathe.
