Zusammenfassung:	The invention concerns a device (AALu and AALd) and a method for the implementation of protocol functions of the ATM Adaptation layer (AAL) in a B-ISDN network, particularly for flows of data requiring time relation between source and destination. The time relation method foresees the following phases: transmit (AAL1_A) information packets (SYNCH_A) having null information content indicating a synchronization request; receive (AAL1_B) said information packets, obtain synchronization information from the same and put the receiver in synchronization condition; transmit (AAL1_B) information packets (SYNCH_RECEIVER_B) having null information content condition; receive (AAL1_A) said information packets (SYNCH_RECEIVER_B) indicating the occurred synchronization; recognize (AAL1_A) the occurred synchronization) of the receiver and start the transmission of information packets having information content not null.
