Zusammenfassung:The recuperators are used esp. to reclaim heat from gases obtd. from a plant operating at high temps.. The bricks are made by casting molten oxides which have a high m.pt., esp. baddeleyite-corundum; alpha-corundum; or mullite. The bricks possess an H-profile, a T-profile, or a U-profile. The H-profile is square, and has the same size as two T-profiles joined together, or two U-profiles joined back to back. After casing the molten oxides in a mould, the moulding is pref. cooled at 20-32 deg.C/hour. The modular bricks thus obtd. permit rapid lining of recuperators. Used e.g. in the fist half (a) of a cycle (a,b) hot combustion gases are fed through a recuperator to heat its lining. In the second half (b) of the cycle, the flow of hot combustion gases is cut off while the hot lining is used to reheat a fuel or air for combustion of the fuel.
