Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for washing textile material in drum-type washing machines. The essential features are that the washing process begins with a soaking and measuring phase by means of a liquor collected outside the drum in a separate container from the previous washing and/or rinsing cycle, in the subsequent washing process washing and/or rinsing liquor is fed, without the addition of new washing agent, out of the separate container via the water flowmeter to a drum, until the laundry is fully saturated with liquor and free liquor occurs, the drum is thereafter transferred to washing speed, and, after the dirt fractions which can be washed out easily have been washed out, the liquor is pumped off via the flow-off line by means of a pump.
