Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a stabiliser for polyvinyl chloride in the form of alkali metal nitrate which has been micronised to a size of 50 mu m and hydrophobicised. The micronisation is carried out either before the hydrophobicisation or in the presence of the hydrophobicising agent. The hydrophobicising agent used comprises components which are present in the polyvinyl chloride compositions, such as lubricants or stabilisers, in amounts, based on the alkali metal nitrates, of from 0.01:1 to 0.9:1. The stabiliser is lyophilic, readily compatible with the components of the polyvinyl chloride compositions, finally dispersed and is stable in this form.
