The invention relates to a device for improving the separation of grain in the straw shakers of combine harvesters, which is arranged in the region of at least one descending step of the rocker trays, consists of pivotable loosening rods without a separate drive and subjects the harvested material which is situated on the straw shakers to additional loosening, as well as shaking. The aim of the invention is to improve the separation of grain on the straw shakers with simple means, thereby reducing the losses of grain which occur. The object of the invention is to design and arrange the grain separating device in such a way that effective and trouble-free loosening of straw is possible under all harvesting conditions, for a small outlay. The essential features of the invention are that a resilient loosening rod is fastened to a plate, which is connected to the step wall of a descending step, in an asymmetrical fashion and so as to be pivotable longitudinally and transversely to the longitudinal axis of the shaker tray, and that the pivoting region of the loosening rod extends above the separating gap between two shaker trays.
