Zusammenfassung:	The forging press comprises a frame having an upper (1) and a lower (2) cross-member connecting two columns (3) with guide ways (4) for two press ram members (5,6), of which the lower (6) carries the upper press die (C). The member (6) with die is driven e.g. hydraulically via a screw spindle (9) which is rotatable relative to the ram drive and has a non-self locking, i.e. steep-pitch, thread engaging a nut (7) in the upper member (5). This member is separately drivable e.g. hydraulically, operation of this drive being controlled e.g. by a pressure sensor (18) as a function of the ram travel. The initial space between the members is adjustable to set the required amount of die rotation during the final part of the stroke.
