Zusammenfassung:Compositions which contain an alkanolamide of the general formula in which R represents an alkyl or alkenyl radical having 9-21 C atoms, R represents hydrogen, -(CH2)x-O-CO-A-COOMe or -(CH2)x-OH, A represents -CH=CH-, -(CH2)y or x represents 2 or 3, y represents 1, 2, 3 or 4 and Me represents hydrogen, NH4, alkali metal, in particular sodium or potassium, mono-, di- or tri alkyl- or -alkanolammonium, and, if appropriate, a tanning agent, are suitable for the fat-liquoring, softening and, if appropriate, simultaneous tanning or retanning of leather.
