Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to an auxiliary drive mechanism for the transverse-sealing device on bag forming, filling and sealing machines for producing two different output speeds for adaptation of the welding-jaw speed to the packing-means path speed, the aim being to avoid deformation of the packing-means path during the transverse-sealing process by matching the speeds. This is achieved by the auxiliary drive mechanism being constructed as an infinitely adjustable two-speed multiple-disc chain drive with two output shafts for the drive shafts of the welding-jaw carriers, which output shafts are connected via transmission elements alternately transmitting force, an electromagnetic multiple-disc clutch being arranged on one output shaft and a grip-roller and expanding friction clutch being arranged on the second output shaft. The electromagnetic multiple-disc clutch can be operated via adjustable trip cams.
