This automatic unhooking system for harnesses, which can be used in particular for windsurfing boards, permits rapid and easy release from the watercraft. It comprises a rigid plate (2) which is fastened to the harness (1) and is provided with fastening supports (5, 6) for a pivot (9) which is offset with regard to the plate (2) and about which a movable hook (10) can pivot. Opening of the hook is ensured by a spring (15) which presses it against the plate when the tension with the connecting element (13) which is fastened to the watercraft is removed. Quick unhooking is thereby ensured, which is facilitated by the opening position of the hook forwards and downwards. Hooking is effected as in a fixed hook without the aid of the hands by a body movement which guides the connecting element into the opening of the hook, which according to the invention goes into the closed position when it is pulled.
