Zusammenfassung:A cooler for the shell of shaft furnaces, specially blast furnaces, consists of a frame with at least two ribbed metal tubes for the coolant which are welded to sheet metal partitions in the shape of straps. The straps are welded along the long sides to the rear of adjoining cooling tubes at a tangent to their periphery. Gaps are left between the straps along the height and also in the outer frame. Refractory material is used to fill the space inside the frame. This combines a better resistance to mechanical and thermal stresses with a protection of the furnace shell against the action of the furnace atmos.
