Zusammenfassung:Mandrel for use in continuous multi-stand rolling mills for the production of seamless round or rectangular tubes has a working part which corresponds to the inner contour of the tube. Its lagging end has a central opening for the end of the mandrel rod which absorbs the axial rolling pressure. The leading end has a protruding centre which corresponds at least partly to the shape of the opening at the other end. The length of the working part lies between 0.25 to 0.95 times the rolling mill stand spacing. This results in a rolling mill cycle of higher output, simpler handling of the mandrel and elimination of uneven wear of the working part of a mandrel.
