Zusammenfassung:	Compounds of the formula: wherein R is an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or monohalomethyl, R' is an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, A is halogen or -CF3, B is hydrogen or halogen and n is 0-2, provided that when A is CF3, B is halogen, or agriculturally acceptable salts thereof are plant growth modifiers, e.g. herbicides, and may be obtained by partial hydrolysis of the corresponding bis(sulfonyl) compounds in which n is zero, followed by oxidation when compounds in which n is 1 or 2 are required.
