When the chamber is full the auger rotation is halted and it is advanced into the chamber by a ram. The gate is opened to release the grapes when a predetermined pressure is reached within the chamber. Finally the pressure exerted by the ram is released and the auger is rotated out of the chamber. The cycle then repeats. The press provides a continuous pressing of the grapes against a controlled back pressure. |
