Heat and mass exchange column plates - with conical holes contacting each other along edges for better efficiency

Contact plates for heat and mass exchange columns, used in the chemical, food, microbiological and pharmaceutical industry, specially for the mfr. of polymer materials, are provided with holes of truncated cone or biconical shape or the passage of the phases. The holes along the outer periphery contact with their edges the wall of the column. The edges of the broad sides of the inside holes contact each other or form a network or ribs, leaving no flat lands. Such contact plates eliminate any dead zones; they utilize the available cross-section to best advantage and improve the exchange efficiency.
