Zusammenfassung:A foam comprises a halogen-contg. copolymer of a monovinylidene aromatic monomer and at least 1 milliequiv. per gram of an ethylenically unsatd. carboxylic anhydride. The copolymer is crosslinked by a polyfunctional cpd. through the anhydride moiety to a degree sufficient to render it non-melting upon exposure to flame. The halogen in the copolymer reduces its flammability without affecting its physical properties, and the crosslinking renders the foam non-melting. It is used in construction and furniture to replace styrene polymer foams.
