Electric motor core windings - comprises single winding coils from rectangular cross section wire

The cone windings of an electric motor, e.g. the armature windings of an automobile starter motor, comprises single winding coils made from wire of rectangular cross-section, and each coil has slot and ends parts. The ends or riser parts of each coil are shaped as a bend in the wire about the axis running parallel to the broad edge of the wire, without any loop formation in retaining the positioning of the surfaces of the wire relative to the leg of the coil. The limbs of the ends or riser parts are bent in the opposite directions across the surface of the broad edge of the wire.
