Zusammenfassung:	A bottle for culturing a test sample e.g. blood includes a plastic vessel made from a single layer of plastic material. The bottle features a glass barrier coating applied to the bottle such as a silica or glass coating. An alternative embodiment features a single layer plastic bottle and a gas barrier adhesive label covering the cylindrical side wall of the bottle. In another embodiment the gas barrier is in the form of a plastic shrink-wrap partially or alternatively completely enveloping the plastic vessel. Kits comprising two or more of such bottles and methods of manufacturing the bottles are also disclosed.
