Zusammenfassung:	ABSTRACT A LINEAR COMPRESSOR A linear compressor comprises a housing defined by a first end cover and a second end cover. The linear compressor comprises a permanent magnet disposed within the housing, and a coil former having a metallic wire wound thereon also disposed within the housing. The linear compressor further comprises a piston element that has a piston head coated with an anti-friction material. The use of the anti-friction material enables the operation of the linear compressor without the use of a lubricating oil. The piston element is rigidly coupled with the coil former. The coil former is adapted to reciprocate axially within the housing on application of an alternating current, thereby causing the reciprocatory movement of the piston element and enabling the compression of the refrigerant.
