Apparatus for facilitating the performance of stretching exercises

Apparatus for facilitating the performance of stretching exercises by a subject for stretching muscle and tissues in the arms, legs and torso of the subject comprises a main support track (5) having a forward support track (12) and a rear support (15) extending from respective forward and rear ends (6) and (7) of the main support track (5). A seat (18) is slidably mounted on the main track (5), while a forward foot platform (20) is slidable on the forward support track (12). Forward hand grips (25) are provided on respective opposite sides of the main track (5) while first and second rear hand grips (26), (27) and (29) are provided on respective opposite sides of the rear support (15). A pair of rear foot engaging members (21) depend downwardly from a pivot shaft (23) on respective opposite sides of the rear support (15). The seat (18) is swivelable about a vertical axis between a forwardly facing orientation and a rearwardly facing orientation. A subject sitting on the seat (18) in the forward or rearward facing orientations and gripping corresponding forward hand grips (25) or first and second rear hand grips (26),(27) and (29), and with the feet supported on the forward foot platform (20) or rear foot engaging members (21) may carry out many stretching exercises for stretching the various limb and torso muscles.
