Zusammenfassung:The air cleaner, especially for a motor vehicle or tractor engine, consists of a housing (1) with a coaxial air feed pipe (2) and a main filter element (5) in the space between the air feed pipe and housing inner wall. The air flow passes through an additional filter element (14) before reaching the outlet (11). - The additional filter element has a central conical recess (15) facing the outlet end of the air feed pipe, the maximum diameter (D) of which is greater than the diameter (d) of the feed pipe. The dimensions of the recess include a maximum diameter of 1.10 to 2.45 times the diameter of the feed pipe, and a depth of 0.3-4.0 times the feed pipe's diameter. In a variant the recess can be cylindrical in shape with a corrugated surface, or the additional filter element can have a through aperture.
