Zusammenfassung:The novel material is based on a matrix of a synthetic resin which can be made to foam and a low density, low mechanical strength granular additive. The synthetic resin may be polyurethane phenol-formaldehyde, phenol-carbamide, polyethylene, or P.V.C. The granular additive may be based on fly-ash, expanded clay, perlite, granular perlite foam, or glass foam. The granular additive should have a maximum thermal conductivity of 0.1 W/mK, it should be moisture resistant, in some cases by having a surface impregnating treatment. - The synthetic resin is sprayed on the surface of the additive granules. The resulting materials is poured into the space to be insulatedor into special moulds and the resin matrix is allowed to foam. - The method is suitable for the economic manufacture of insulating materials in various shapes, such as plate, tubular, etc.
