Zusammenfassung: | Crude oil deposits occurring in karstic limestone formations can be recovered by the injection into the oil bearing formations of a gaseous medium having a lower density than the oil phase. The gas replaces the oil in the dead-end cavities and domes in the karst which are connected only at lower levels, and pushes the oil into the lower connecting channels from which it can be pushed to the wells by natural or artificial water flooding, and recovered. - Natural gas contg. 50-85 mole % carbon-dioxide and not more than 0.002 mole % hydrogen-sulphide is pref. used for this purpose. The gas has no other industrial application. The gas injection may take place in the upper structural regions of the oil bearing formation, or in the dead karst near the original dividing line between oil and water. |
